Have you experienced frustration when dealing with the media?  Do you feel successful in getting your message across?  In this interactive session you'll learn methods to make encounters with the news media work in your favor, techniques to make sure you get your points across, ways to turn negatives into positives, and other tips to make you a winner when dealing with the media.

2.  Overcoming Bad Mojo:  Coping with Crisis

Probably more than any other local government group, 3CMA members have been and continue to be at the forefront of dealing with CRISIS.  No longer involved with just explaining the physical issues and aftermath of such occurrences as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and other natural disasters; now communicators must manage the more complex issues of workplace violence, terrorism, sabotage and lawsuits involving staff.  This workshop will provide you with a blueprint for success. Learn how to avoid mistakes and plan properly for any eventuality.

3.  Multicultural Mystique:  Understanding and Communicating Diversity

Diversity in local government and its communities is essential.  Diversity strengthens the community by broadening outlooks and  encouraging creativity and commitment.  It also poses some strategic and financial challenges for staff and volunteers who must design multiple methods of spreading the word about their agencies' services to obtain "buy in". Learn how to start or improve your community's cultural diversity programs.

Take a magical journey with a City Manager through the workplace to identify personality types, how individuals work, and how you make decisions.  Knowing your strengths is mighty, but knowing how to use the information to work effectively with the public, staff and elected officials is awesome.
