Atlanta "On Location"
Atlanta is a city defined by both Southern charm and world-class sophistication, where rich history, fine dining, and indulgent shopping experiences combine with an inspirational arts and cultural scene. It’s easy to see why Atlanta is one of the most popular destinations in the country to visit and one of the most beloved places to call home.

Welcome to “The Hollywood of the South”
In recent years, Georgia has become a major film and television hub. In fact, it’s now identified by the Motion Picture Association of America as the third-biggest film-production location in the country, trailing only New York and California.

The state offers a generous film tax credit that allows filmmakers to offset as much as 30 percent of their qualified production expenses. In 2014 alone, Georgia-lensed feature films and television productions generated an economic impact of $5.1 billion and supported more than 24,000 direct jobs.

In 2014, Georgia hosted the production of 52 television shows and 21 films, including “Selma,” “Taken 3,” “The Walking Dead,” and “The Vampire Diaries,” among others. In summer 2015, nearly 40 film and TV projects were filming in Georgia, including Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" and “Antman,” the "Divergent" sequel and the drug-trade movie "Mena," starring Tom Cruise.

Film tourism alone has brought many to Atlanta—now dubbed “ATLwood” or “The Hollywood of the South”— to trace the footsteps of their favorite television and movie characters via set tours designed around “The Walking Dead,” “The Blind Side,” “Anchorman 2,” or one of the many other shows and movies filmed in Atlanta.

With a strong incentive program in place and a growing film infrastructure, Georgia’s star is continuing to rise.
