 What happens in the event of an emergency and what resources are available? In this session, you will learn what emergency operation resources may be available within your state and county and the value of the emergency management program and their emergency operation centers. You will leave here having a valuable resource that you will certainly want to tap into during your next emergency.

 This session will explain the regulations and safety guidelines about using drones both commercially and as a hobby. Experts will talk about public use and FAA vs. City authority to regulate drone activity. You will leave this session feeling more knowledgeable and know the resources available should questions arise from residents within your area.

 How do you provide fun, informative, quality video for your residents? Video production can be intimidating as technology keeps changing, but it's also becoming more accessible. We'll explore gear options from cell phones to drones and everything in between. And we'll talk about tapping into your organization for special talent. Being on camera or providing a voice may not be natural for some public employees, but discover the employees who embrace the opportunity, and the results can be amazing!

11:25 - 12:15 pm Connect with Residents - How do we better connect with residents using social media for equity and inclusion?
 How It's so much easier (and less expensive) to track service delivery and to communicate online, right? But what about those residents who can't afford the internet or a computer? And what can you do when many of your own government employees live on the other side of the digital divide? Kansas City, Missouri's Communications Director is also a Digital Inclusion Fellow with NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network. He'll share ideas and invite you to analyze his project in progress, with the goal of creating best practices for all local governments.

 In times of crisis, clear and concise communication is critical. This message is critical to the community and the employees to ensure the message is consistent. The Des Moines Police Department experienced tragedies that not only hit home within their department, but their community. Learn how the police department dealt with the crisis and how they moved ahead, one day at a time with the support of their department and the community.

During a time of crisis, calmness is what should be portrayed to the community. Learn how the Johnston Police Department created a sense of calmness for the community to ensure they knew the police department was doing everything they could with a cyber-hack that involved the school district. Ensuring those working relationships are put into place before a major incident is key!

During this session, we will review talent attraction strategies that work and ways to keep the millennials engaged while not losing track of other generations.
