Job Posting - Communications Manager

The City is seeking a Communications Manager who will foster a collaborative team environment in the development and management of the City’s strategic communications plan.  This position reports to the Deputy City Manager and will help enhance the City’s image through effective public relations and strategic communications.

The ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner and in accordance with the listeners’ frame of reference, both verbally and in writing, will be crucial in developing an effective and successful city-wide communications program.  The Communications Manager will facilitate interactive, two-way communications both internally, between management and employees, and externally with businesses, community organizations, visitors, governmental agencies and the media.

Qualifications Include

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or closely related field
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in a position with broad communications responsibilities, including writing newsletters, articles and press releases 
  • Experience in website utilization for communications purposes 

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $60,756 - $73,920 and is dependent upon qualifications.  The City offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package which includes:  Medical, Dental and Vision health insurance, Life/AD&D, Vacation, 14 paid Holidays, Sick Leave, and two retirement plans including the Washington State Public Employees Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation.
