Assistant Public Information Officer/Communications Specialist
We’re on the hunt for the perfect person to become the tag-team partner to our Public Information Officer, someone who’s ready to blow us out of the water with incredible writing skills, killer creative graphic design skills and a promotional prowess that will ensure everyone on earth knows about this growing town. You’ll also be a pro at helping manage a website, create engaging videos for our 24-hour-a-day, 7-day a week Town TV channel, and shoot eye-catching photos. Oh, and did we mention, you’ll be a social media whiz. Branding needs to be your middle name. You’ll be responsible for crafting stories, news releases, Facebook posts, tweets, Instagram messages and videos in little to no time to ensure the public is fully informed and understands Town goals, programs, events, accomplishments, services and facilities available to them in the Town. You’ll respond to public feedback/concerns and engage with all ages in person at events, community meetings, Town Hall tours, as well as on all available social media platforms, to build positive and productive relationships with our residents, businesses and beyond. You’ll help enhance confidence in the Town with your commitment to transparency and lighting-speed responsiveness. You’ll be up on communication industry trends & best practices and be proficient in Photoshop, Publisher and other graphic arts programs to craft sleek and effective posters, flyers and brochures. A great candidate must be able to work independently, constantly juggling multiple projects at one time while leaping to the unexpected needs of more than 11 different departments and more than 17,000 residents. A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Communications, Graphics Arts or a related field is preferred, plus two years of responsible experience in media, marketing, public information, or public relations; or the equivalent experience to ensure the development of proficient writing techniques and communications skills. Starting salary is $35K-$39K/year.
