Job Posting - Media Services Intern
The City is seeking qualified candidates to fill up to a 12-month, part-time Media Services Intern position in the Media Services Division.
This position works under the supervision of the Director of Media Services and requires an individual who possesses an outgoing personality, great communication skills, positive can do attitude, and ability to take the initiative and move project from concept to completion. The Media Services Intern will assist with the launching of the City’s new brand; help develop and maintain social media outreach; and work closely with City departments to develop and modify a comprehensive library of current print materials. Responsibilities will also include editing and proofreading various assets, as needed, during the process.
Recent graduate (or within 12 months) from a bachelor’s program that has received a degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field. Working towards a master’s degree highly desirable. Candidate must display strong communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective and diplomatic working relationships with external and internal customers. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. **Not a requirement, but would prefer a candidate familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Approximately 19 hours per week (the hours may vary), primarily week day hours. This is a non-IMRF (no pension) position with limited benefit earning potential. Salary range is between $8.25 to $13.50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Candidate screening process may consist of an application review, interviews, reference checks, and other verifications. Chosen candidates will be subject to a background and criminal history investigation, and qualifying pre-employment screenings. Position open through Friday, May 22, 2015.
