This session will give you practical and creative ways of developing messaging that is effectively tailored for a variety of audiences and communications platforms.
      
Collaborative Storytelling
We all have individuals and advocate groups in our cities that are passionate about key issues in their community. This session will take a look at how some organizations have successfully channeled the passion that drives these individuals and advocate groups into engagement, collaboration and, ultimately, participation in a shared storytelling effort.
      
Lunch Panel: The Power of a Compelling Story
Hear from a panel of peers as they share how they tapped into the power of storytelling and created a narrative to build awareness and a call to action around a community-wide issue.
      
Pitch Perfect… Make Your Story Matter
There’s an art to pitching media stories in today’s world of insta-everything. During this session, local media professionals will share their thoughts on the types of pitches that grab their attention and also offer insight on how government communications professionals can cultivate positive working relationships with journalists.
      
Shooting Smartphone Video
This interactive session will cover the basics of shooting quick, compelling videos using your mobile device. Bring your charged cell phone and get ready to participate in a fun group exercise.
      
Video Viewings
Grab a popcorn snack and get ready to view the videos captured during the smartphone exercise.
