3CMA - Senior Communications Specialist - Job Posting


The Senior Communications Specialist serves as a member of the City's Communications and Public Engagement Division. This position works in a team setting, and coordinates with staff throughout the organization to provide centralized communication services that are aligned with the City's vision, values, mission, and strategic plan. The Senior Communications Specialist engages and informs citizens and employees by providing strategic, relevant, accurate and timely information about city initiatives, programs, projects and services. This position's primary duties include writing across multiple platforms and for multiple audiences, managing the citywide customer relationship management system, and serving as a website administrator, leading a group of department content managers.

Experiance and Education

Experience: A minimum of four to six years of progressively responsible work and creative story-telling experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field. Demonstrated ability to apply various writing styles including writing for print, web, and social and the ability to apply plain language principles. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media and web-based platforms. Experience using Adobe Creative Suites.  Demonstrated experience working independently and within a team structure in a fast-paced environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Administration, or related field of study.
