Job Description

Seeking qualified applicants for the position of Community and Media Relations Coordinator.  There is a high level of public interest in the operations, mission and services performed by the Department, and the person appointed to this position will be responsible for maintaining an effective media relations and public information program. This position will be highly visible, serving as the primary media contact regarding any incidents and issues on a 24-hour per day basis.  It will require an individual with excellent presentation skills and the ability to effectively represent the organization as a spokesperson both with the media and citizen groups.  

In addition to functioning as the primary media contact, the Community and Media Relations Coordinator will advise top managers on issues of public and community relations, develop strategies to accomplish organizational objectives, prepare executive level correspondence and reports, coordinate and manage special projects and activities, make presentations to various community groups, prepare news releases for newspapers, television and radio stations, and develop public awareness and safety education programs.
