Public Information Officer & Communications Director

The Department of Law is seeking a dynamic and seasoned individual to formulate, direct, and execute a comprehensive communications plan, including a media relations and strategic communication strategy in support of the initiatives and work of the Attorney General’s Office.

Essential duties of this critical strategic partner include:

  • Serves as primary media contact and spokesperson for the Attorney General and Department of Law;
  •  Responds to inquiries from reporters and media representatives; 
  • Generates and disseminates communication materials, including press releases, social media content,  public service announcements, website content, annual reports, speeches, editorials and other related public information; 
  • Initiates and arranges for media coverage of Department of Law events, informational and educational campaigns, and other activities;
  •  Arranges and participates in community outreach events and meetings involving the Attorney General and key staff;
  • Coordinates and prepares the Attorney General and other Department of Law  staff for interviews and press conferences;
  • Identifies and organizes opportunities for public and media appearances;
  • Develops and manages social media strategy and content;
  • Manages the Attorney General’s external website;
  • Manages internal communications, including informing staff of relevant news and events;
  • Manages constituent correspondence and responses to citizen inquiries; and
  • Serves as the department contact and coordinator for various public information requests.
In order to carry out the responsibilities of the position, the Public Information Officer & Communications Director must be available by phone or text at all times and must be available to travel (typically in-state travel with minimal out-of-state travel).
